My family consists of two loving Mexican parents and one annoying older brother.
I finished Elementary School in Mexico which affected me with my reading and writing later when I started Middle School in the US.
Since Middle School i've been studying in the US.
Road tripping through Mexico
Back in 2015 on my sophomore orientation, my dad was abducted in Mexico for a month. After my dad had been rescued he was traumatized to stay in my house in Matamoros. So he decided we take a trip around Mexico.
Our getaway trip lasted for 3 months, meaning i was missing school.
My High School (BECHS) decided to drop me since i was failing due to my absences.
During the road trip I would read many books, and keep a journal of my experiences, thoughts, and hopes.
After being dropped out of High School my family and I decided for me to come back and continue my education so I could graduate.
My new and last high school was Veterans, there I had great teachers who supported me and expanded my reading options and helped me with my writing.
In my art class back in junior year I made my two best friends, Sofia and Elizabeth. We've maintained friends even though they went away for college, Sofia in St. Mary's and Elizabeth in SMU.
My two best friends have really supported and accepted me for who I am. They know my struggle with English and have helped me expand my vocabulary and knowledge.
The sisterhood of the traveling books
Sofia, Elizabeth, and I would have getaways to the Island. We'd all take books, snacks and journals, while being on the beach we'd read and write our thoughts on life.
Photographs were our friendship hobby. We'd drive around town or the island looking for cool artistic places to take photos. Although my best friends and I are in different cities, we still manage to take polaroids of our adventures and mail them to one another.
Once or twice a month we all receive two letters by one another, explaining how life has been. Most of the time the letters come with a book we've read and want each other to read it.
Our friendship consists of adventures and exploring new experiences together. We've had two trips to Colorado, we'd hike, fish, swim, and read in the lakes.
Ever since elementary school i've been very passionate to pursue a career in the Science teaching field. I remember coming home to teach my mom about how caterpillars develop into a butterfly or how photosynthesis works. Seeing how my mom has been a teacher since I was born has made me sure of my career choice. I plan on graduating with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry with a teacher certificate. I aspire to become a Science high school teacher.
