How 2 take effective note

1. BE PREPARED!

   1. -Attend Class Regularly

   2. -Be on Time

   3. Organize Note-Taking materials ahead of time

   4. Keep up with Reading Assignments

2. Listening actively

   1. You don't need to write everything you hear.

   2. If the professor say, "For example..." that is a phrase that should get your attention

   3. Conclusions or summary use words such as, "Therefore..." or "From this we see...."

   4. Supporting Material may start with phrases like, "On the other hand" or "Similarly

3. put down all of the needed information

   1. This will help you recall what you are studying and when it was taught.

4. Skip any unnecessary words such as "the" and "a" in your note taking.

5. Write the info as clearly and quickly as you can. Use standard abbreviations and symbols. w/ = with; abr = abbreviation.

6. Develop your own abbreviations and symbols for words you use often.

7. Use your own words

8. Write down any examples a teacher gives.

9. If the instructor is moving to fast leave space in your notes for what you've missed. You can ask someone for the missing information when class is over.

10. Once you get home, type or rewrite your notes right away.

11. Review your notes

12. -Review the notes from the previous class meeting while you sit and wait for the class to begin

13. Review each week's notes at the end of the week
