Great Structures in XMind!
Use Fishbone Diagram with Mind Mapping
Fishbone is a tool to show the causes of a certain event, and considered a tool. It can be used to identify potential factors causing an overall effect. It helps users visually organize the causal relationships in complex ideas or events. It also increases awareness of cause and effect, and more simply organize learned materials or theories.

In XMind, it's easy to use this great tool:
- Right-click a topic for the "fish head", and choose 'Structure'->'Fishbone'.
- Use "Enter" and "Tab" to create main "bones" and sub "bones".
- You can apply any structure to any brunch if necessary.
- Fishbone diagram is also useful in project management or activity progress control scenarios, where time sequencing is a concern. A series of activities that impact the project's progress, as well as their time order connections, can be clearly illustrated.
Additionally, every single branch can be detached into detailed recursive activities. As a result, users can quickly understand key activities and time arrangements, and take proper measures to accelerate project completion.
Use Spreadsheet with Mind Mapping
Spreadsheet, a.k.a. 2D-chart, is a breakthrough design for mind mapping/brainstorming software. It is not a calculator. It is a tool to enable successful 'cause and effect' analysis, and provide a systematic approach to drawing meaningful conclusions!

The usage of Spreadsheet is simple:
- Right-click a topic for the "title", and choose 'Structure'->'Spreadsheet'.
- Press 'Enter' on any row topic or title topic to add a new row.
- Click 'Add Column' button on the right of the title to add a new column.
- Double-click the column title to edit it.
- Double-click the cell to create a new cell topic. 'Enter' works too.
- Try drag-and-drop on anything.
A set of complex factors and behaviors that impact final measures are exhibited in perpendicular rows and columns. This enables the in-depth analysis of strengths and weaknesses. It provides a clear, easy-to-interpret view of different lines of thinking.
