Many of us are puzzled by why people do not like my maps. We have spent much time on learning the tool, collection information, and formatting the map. But when we distribute them to colleagues, co-workers or managers. No big response.
After reading this article, We could learn more. So I map the content, hope you can find some reasons out for yourself. Or you can leave your ideas as comment.
2012 is coming soon. Happy new year! Have you got the ship ticket?
In 2011, XMind does not make any big things on the software. But after one-year study and preparement, XMind Ltd understands more on many things, such as product design, web app, iOS development, mobile market and etc.
These knowledge may not let XMind be best at once, but we believe it will be better and better from 2012.
Below are the new 2012 calendar templates we made. If you need or like, please download them. Or you can also translate it to other language and re-upload.

1. Drilldown & Floating topics
- Select the date
- Drill down (F6)
- Add daily things as the floating topics.
2. Multiple sheet
- Select the month (main topic)
- Choose “Insert — New Sheet from Topic” on the menu
- In the new sheet, add the daily tasks as date’s subtopic
Today, we’re glad to share a special GTD template created by Mr. Adnan Adam Onart, working at Boston University.
The template is composed with 6 sheets which are linked with each other. Mr. Adnan also shares with us why he made this template,
GTD or Getting Things Done, the action management method, invented by David Allen, has a large following world wide. The applications for implementing it abound: From tiddlywiki’s to thick client softwares. You can also see many versions of its workflow in print or on the WEB. The advantage of using XMind for GTD is the combination of the workflow operations with its pictorial representations. The direct manipulation of the tasks on the screen creates some intuitiveness which is not easy to come buy with flat or hierarchical list system. I wish to keep the design of the map simple, free from unnecessary icons or markers. But this template comes to you as Version 0.3. As I’ll start using it, I may be adding new features or making improvements. I’ll be happy if I could also have your feedback and suggestions for future evolution.
If you’re interested, please download GTD.xmt. After downloading it, you can directly double-click and open it with XMind, Or open it from menu, ”File — New — New from Template…” and select this template.

Since XMind was put into the marketplace, we have had many supporters from Germany. Undoubtly, XMind German version, as a bridge or a link, quickly brings XMind close to our Germany users. This is definitely a key point.
Now we would like to solemnly introduce a nice friend from Germany, Mr. Jens Pipka, a senior consultant for IT Technology and Architecture since more than 15 years, who has done XMind German translation for us voluntarily since 2007. We have had a pleasant cooperation with him. During these years, each time when XMind released a new version, Mr. Jens Pipka kindly did us a favor for German translation. It’s not a easy thing. We never met each other. There is a sense of trust between us. We really appreciate for all the effort he has done for XMind these years.
And we also would like to say “Thank you” to all our contributors, who help us to do translations, who help us to figure out the reasons for bugs, who offer suggestions for improvements, who do beta test for us and etc. It’s our great honor to have such nice users. Thank you all!
Now XMind new version is around the corner, with your help, therefore, XMind could have this stable and wide development.
Nowadays, we are getting used to spell checking whenever we write something. In XMind, you may meet this kind issue, when editing a topic, you expect that spell checking can help you to perfect your spelling.
Now in XMind, the default spell checking is in English. But our users come from all over the world, they speak all kinds of languages. This default spell checking couldn’t meet the need of users who come from non-English speaking countries.
If you come from non-English speaking countries, you may probably want to use your own dictionary for spell checking.
Here one of our users shared a useful website for you to find your own dictionary:
http://www.winedt.org/Dict/
Download the very dictionary, change the extension to .dict , then add your own dictionary to XMind. (Edit > Preferences > Mind Map > Spelling)
After doing this, in XMind, you can enjoy spell checking for French, German, Spanish and etc. Very easy and useful, right?
Whenever you need this, do not hesitate to give it a try.
In the past months, we received lots of inquiries about XMind Pro Enterprise license. They told us that XMind Pro was good at enhancing the efficiency, saving working time, and wanted to know something about the Enterprise license support.
The full name of Enterprise license is XMind Pro Enterprise Unlimited License. Actually, it’s another type subscription code, which means all people within a company or an organization can enjoy XMind Pro. Of course, there is no limitation on the number of users.
Normally, we will recommend this Enterprise License to these inquirers only when the estimated user number is more than 100. In that case, it has the superior cost-effective. More important, only one license and a few special XMind accounts needed, so it’s very convenient for you to mange your team, department, and your company.
